W. Curtis Preston interviews Len Rosenthal, Sr. VP of Marketing for Astute Networks, at VMWorld 2012 in San Francisco. Astute Networks is a company that sells virtualization-optimized storage systems. During the show, they introduced the ViSX G4, which is a virtual machine flash storage appliance that is geared for the virtual server manager rather than the storage manager. It is an iSCSI appliance that communicates over ethernet. Astute Network's data pump engine is a chip tat does TCP and iSCSI protocol processing in the hardware. It can accelerate CRC checks, check sums, and terminations. The environment comes with 2.4 TB of eMLC flash.
