W. Curtis Preston interviews Vaughn Stewart, Director of Cloud Computing for NetApp, at VMWorld 2012 in Barcelona. They talk about NetApp’s recent announcements, one of which is the ExpressPod, an entry-level FlexPod configuration, designed for smaller, remote/branch offices. It consists of a Catalyst switch and a FAS 2200 and a UCS C platform. NetApp has also announced OnTap Edge, their software-based virtual storage appliance that runs on vSphere 5. Data Ontap 8 cluster mode has been released and cluster mode has been certified for FlexPod architectures. They also announced FlexPod for Oracle RAC.
