W. Curtis Preston interviews Mark Bermingham, Product Manager for Kaspersky, at VMWorld 2012 in Barcelona. Kaspersky recently announced an agentless security offering, which rides along with VMWares vShield endpoint solution. Kaspersky can now interact with VMWare’s API called NetSec, allowing them to interact at the network layer and offer services such as intrusion prevention, intrusion detection, firewall, etc. This runs at the hypervisor level and protects all the hosts in that environment. Kaspersky feels it is more efficient to deploy services at the point of attack, rather than at the perimeter, where these have typically been deployed.
