W. Curtis Preston interviews Scott Kline, Director of Corporate Communications for Nimbus Data, at VMWorld 2012 in Barcelona. They discuss Nimbus’ claim of being the most future proof of the flash storage arrays. They say they have architected in connectivity far beyond what is used today as well as performance, getting over a million IOPS, having 56 gig infinibands, 16 gig fibre channel and 40 gig iSCSI. They build their flash drives themselves, allowing control over the life, reliability and cost within their flash systems. They also put DRAM on their drives for write-back cache, to minimize writing to the flash.
